Hi, I’m
Martin.
I’m a proud public servant who spent many years in the private sector before joining government. Most of my work comes down to helping people make good decisions and move things forward.
I also help lead a small Canadian company and serve on the board of a national not-for-profit organization.
Outside work, you will usually find me gardening or attempting to write a book.
Right now
What I’m working on
I have a few different roles, but they all have something in common. I like helping people understand a problem, find a sensible way through it and get the work done.
Procurement at the CRTC
I lead procurement and contracting work, advise senior leaders and help teams make sound decisions about complex files.
Together North and Yappigo
I am co-CEO of Together North. We are building Yappigo, a private digital home that helps families organize the care of their pets.
CIPMM and mentorship
I serve on the CIPMM board and mentor procurement professionals. I enjoy helping people feel less alone when they face a difficult decision.
How I work
A few things I try to do well
I do not believe good leadership needs to be complicated. People need clear information, honest advice and a manager who pays attention to the work they are actually doing.
Be clear
I try to explain the choices, the risks and what I think should happen next.
Stay close to the work
I want to understand what my team and our clients are dealing with, not just what appears in a report.
Look for a responsible yes
Rules matter, but so does helping people move forward. I look for practical options instead of stopping at the first obstacle.
Treat every person and file with care
The size or visibility of a request should not decide how much attention it receives.

An active mentor in the CIPMM community, with plans to co-chair the mentorship program in 2027.
